UPSC Civil Service Exam 2020 Application Form, Exam Date, Syllabus, Exam Pattern and Notification

CSE Exam Details
According to the examination calendar released by UPSC, UPSC Civil Services Preliminary 2020 will be held on 31 May 2020.
This year too, UPSC is maintaining its reputation among the students for being the 'Unpredictable Services Commission'. In GS Paper-I, most of the questions were from Current Affairs (more than 50), Geography and Environment. Traditional subjects like Polity were not difficult and relatively easy. Broadly, the level of difficulty has increased, and this will also affect the cut-off mark.


Registratio Date of CSE 2020According to the schedule, the online registration process for UPSC IAS 2019 or UPSC Civil Services Preliminary 2019 will start from February 12, 2020, and end on March 3.
Qualification For CSEThe candidate must have a degree in India as an act of the Central or State Legislature or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or a university or any university declared as equivalent education.

Age Limit CriteriaA candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and would not have attained the age of 32 on August 1, 2019, i.e. he would not have been born before August 2, 1987 and not later than August 1, 1998.

CSExam Pattern 2020

  • The examination will include two compulsory papers of 200 marks each.
  • Both the question papers will be objective type (multiple choice questions) and will be of two hours duration each.
  • The General Study Paper-2 of the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination will be a qualifying paper with minimum qualifying marks, which has been set at 33%.
  • Question papers will be set in both Hindi and English.
